starts with y or z

// April 30th, 2006 // 5 Comments » // parenting

Next week it is our turn to send Amy’s class snacks.  I thought we had difficult letters before, but tomorrow we get to send snacks that start with y and z.  No, I can’t send cookies shaped like letters.  Homemade snacks are not allowed.

Will you be going to work or school tomorrow?  Will your life be affected by those who don’t?  Will you avoid shopping or go out of your way to shop?  Will you be wearing white?

about me

// April 29th, 2006 // No Comments » // Doug, me

When my blogging is sparse and vague, Doug’s ears are tired and aching from listening to me whine and complain. “But why?” Of course, you know it’s not Doug that’s bugging me since I would blog about anything he did.  Like wearing his long underwear like Superman.  Do you blog more or less when you are upset?

Somethin’ tells me
It’s all happening at the zoo.

The monkeys stand for honesty,
Giraffes are insincere,
And the elephants are kindly but
They’re dumb.
Orangutans are skeptical
Of changes in their cages,
And the zookeeper is very fond of rum.

Zebras are reactionaries,
Antelopes are missionaries,
Pigeons plot in secrecy,
And hamsters turn on frequently.
What a gas! you gotta come and see
At the zoo.

Update – The pictures are posted on Flickr.

creepy celebrities

Everyone is allowed to live their own life as long as they don’t harm others BUT if their actions, words and choices make your skin crawl, aren’t you supporting that person when you buy their products?

Doug’s shirt

// April 28th, 2006 // 1 Comment » // Doug

Doug is juggling today and tomorrow.  When he juggles, he likes to wear certain things (cough-OCD-cough).  See the yellow and black shirt on Doug’s camera today?  That’s “the juggling shirt” and if you have EVER seen Doug juggle, you’ve seen that shirt.  Every picture I have of Doug juggling is also a picture of THAT shirt.  Isn’t that pitiful?  My father has an awesome bowling shirt.  Doug has the yellow and black plaid shirt.  He also has tuxedo pants and ratty black sneakers but this isn’t about his pants or shoes.  Who thinks Doug deserves a new shirt?  Get out on the Internet and find Doug a new shirt and post the link.  We probably won’t buy it, but we might photoshop it over some of the pictures of THAT shirt.

In honor of “Take Your Children to Work Day” I think I’ll let Amy and Evan play in the basement while Doug tries to program. Bwa-ha-ha-ha

tying up the lines

This week Evan called 911.  I was embarrassed and apologetic.  It could have been worse.  I know a mom whose 4-y-o called 911 because “My Mommy says I’m in really big trouble and I’m supposed to call 911 when I’m in big trouble so I’m calling 911.”
