I much prefer the typical calendar; begin in late August and end in late May without the week of fall break and the week of spring break. I think a couple days tagged onto a weekend is enough. This gives teachers time to get their required coursework in, and if necessary obtain summer employment. I also think it is a wonderful summer time for children to be children.
