The Good Old Days
July 30th, 2006 by barry @ 2:41 amI used to work at Value-Ware Software, a wacky little company that sold and distributed shareware software. I was tech support, and one day this scrawny little dark-haired girl came in looking for a job.
She worked with us there for a few years and was put in charge of duplicating all our 5-1/4″ and those new-fangled 3-1/2″ floppy disks.
To say that the disk duplicators were rather finicky and frustrating would be an….understatement. They broke down more than they worked, and Tish was asked to fix them half the time.
Funny, back then she was shy, unassuming, went about her work with quiet efficiency and good humor. Actually, she had (and still has) a razor-sharp wit that surfaced on occasion. Most of the days she spent deflecting our boss’s jokes he zinged across the office.
I left before she did, and then Michael took my place so they worked together for a while. Then, as we all know, there was the horrible accident involving all those industrial book-binding solvent…poor Tish was doused from head to toe and became the crime-fighting superhero we all know and love today, InvisiTish.
By the way, my feet were completely stark naked while I wrote that post. I do have a pretty good idea what Tish is wearing tonight, though.
