Who Me?
July 28th, 2007 by barry @ 9:30 pmAs some of you know, I love theatre. I have a degree in theatre from UT and for the last ten years, off and on, I’ve music directed a number of shows as well as acted in and directed others.
My dream is to be a director, taking a play or musical and crafting it to bring across some message or information to an audience. Theatre, more than movies or TV, has the power to form a direct emotional connection with an audience. Simply by the fact that a live, human person is right there in the same room as you, performing for you live at that very same moment when anything can (and often will) go wrong is thrilling.
Now, that’s not to say movies and TV can’t inspire - they can, but rarely in the same way.
I’ll talk some about different plays I’ve loved as the evening goes on. Not now, later ![]()

I find opera really inspiring. I went to see La Boheme not too long ago. Absolutely lovely.

I like to “play” in mature cyber chat rooms. Does that count as performing? *giggle*

If we’re bonding, I was a theater minor in college. I did MUCH better at method acting than improv. Doug’s an improv guy.
