Day Two

Katie just posted the suggestions for this week, but I had to get started already since I’m worried about making it to day #50. Our Day two was actually on Thursday and I almost didn’t include it since it was such a, well, disaster. We started off with a picnic on the living room floor. […]

good marketing

After the movie (which was about 15 minutes too long for a 4-year-old girl), we went to Tar-jay for laundry detergent and listened to another family debating whether their very small child should get the Mater or Lightning t-shirt.  Then, we went to Krogrrr for dinner ingredients and listened to two elementary-aged children squealing with […]

Irony

The bigger the pile of stuff I have collected, the less likely that a non-profit will stick a note on the mailbox about an upcoming neighborhood collection for their thrift store.  Sigh.

Grandaddy says

Cathy – “Dad, do you want to go with us to see “Cars” tomorrow?” Grandaddy – “What kind of cars?” Doug – “The kind that talk.” Update – The credits are the very BEST part of the movie. Toy Car Story, bwa ha ha!

blogging teens

While schools and parents everywhere are wringing their hands about teens who blog, we are actively encouraging our oldest children to blog.  They have only a few basic safety rules to follow and we closely monitor them (and their friends’ blogs) but for the most part, they are allowed to say whatever they want to […]

All Together Now

Sarah comes home tomorrow.  Hooray! Sarah’s laundry comes home tomorrow.  Eww. Saturday, Amy will be 4 years old.  Aww. Amy already had her party and declared herself “FOUR”.  Yay!

brain stew

After several days of pop-tart binging, Amy has finally turned into a pop-tart. Yes, your face really can freeze that way and yes, you can actually turn into that thing you just won’t quit eating. I would like to spend my day calling Kellogg’s – oh, who I am I kidding? I never call anyone […]

smells like teen spirit

The house smells like a combination of Count Dracula’s neighbors’ potpourri and a teenage boy’s gym socks (that’s what Doug says anyway).  I don’t know what kind of tree out front causes this smell but between the tree and the garlic I feel like I’m gonna hurl.

Day One

Katie isn’t posting her weekly suggestions until this weekend, but I am going to get started now or I’ll never make it to day #50. Today’s theme is ‘reading’. Tommy and Noah are voracious readers but Sarah would rather be doing other things. When I was her age I had read through every single Bobbsey […]
