back to school

Only one missed bus (Noah) and one refusal to wear a coat (Sarah), but the three eldest returned to school today. Evan wept when they left. The afternoon should bring tired, cranky children with homework for the first time in weeks. Tonight I have a Girl Scout cookie meeting. Next year Amy will be selling […]

FYI – Danny & Matt

My grandmother, who went to the hospital when she caught the nasty stomach bug on Christmas Day, has been moved to ICU because she is bleeding internally. It is easy to see how flu and viruses could wipe out entire communities of elderly and fragile people.

Bubble Bath Day

Since today is Bubble Bath Day, I think I should go soak in the tub for a bit. Maybe if I bathe when the children are eating dinner I can have the tub all to myself. I posted a picture for Cuddle Up Day this weekend, but I don’t think I’ll post one today. I […]

I had a dream

Drifting in and out of fitful migraine sleep last night, I dreamed I fell in a large sinkhole. There were wild animals in the hole and even in my dream I was hurting. Afraid or unable to move, I laid there hoping for Doug to rescue me, even when I could hear him shouting at […]

Oh, Brock

It’s really hard to watch Disney Channel cartoons with Amy when i keep hearing Brock Samson.

cowgirl

cowgirl I like “new to you” aka hand-me-down clothes. I like them for the adults or the children. A bag of toddler boy clothes just arrived in our house from the Indiana cousins. Amy latched on to these boots. These boots have been in our house before. Tommy’s reward for becoming potty trained was this […]

Cuddle Up Day

Today is “Cuddle Up Day“. That sounds so warm and fuzzy. I could try cuddling with Doug, but he falls asleep when he’s still and the loud snoring isn’t very snuggly. Although I am allowed to scratch his back until my arm falls off, any other physical contact with Tommy is only allowed for a […]

games children play

Noah, Amy and Evan spent the morning playing “zombie”. It looks a lot like “tag” except that catching someone means you get to eat their brains. “Mom! Noah’s eating my brains.”

pop culture

Okay, things are never as bad as they could be. This story breaks my heart on many levels. I have the same birthday as Burt Bacharach, but am the same age as his daughter. The last concert I attended was Burt Bacharach. More than anything, it wrings at the heart of every parent, especially those […]

gimme a break

I have had enough of the Mondays this week. I need a Friday night. Doug needs ECT. Oh, no music tonight. I can’t get it to upload to the blog and iTunes erased my library today.
