I am disappointed in Knoxville today.

Some of our extended family came into town for their first ever UT football game. This was their first visit to Knoxville and one of the few times they have traveled out of small town, TN for something fun. They were away from home when one of the children had heart surgery, but I really […]

Criminals are stew-pid.

This morning we left our neighborhood and immediately recognized the sight of the bank parking lot with several police cars as the scene of a recent robbery. Less than a half an hour earlier, someone robbed the bank that has been robbed repeatedly in the past several years. It’s not just the nearby bank that […]

Veteran’s Day Parade

We started this beautiful fall day with a parade. Evan was disinterested in the activity until a soldier walked up and handed him a fistful of candy. After that, he was a big parade fan. He screamed and yelled when his sister marched past past us. “See-rah! See-rah!” Doug spoke toddler speak, too. “Plane! Plane! […]

deck the halls with . . . turkeys?

Apparently there was a secret memo sent out to the cool bloggers that it is now time to complain about Christmas decorations being up too early. It’s a good thing I’m not in that social circle. Cold that was exaggerated by the window a/c unit sized hole in our living room wall. The hole that is covered with just a thin piece of plastic. […]

Amy’s first day at the spa

Amy’s my girly-girl. Sarah spent the day rock climbing. My brain is mush from today’s trip to the toy store, the “spa” birthday party, horse riding lessons and rock climbing. Thank goodness everyone goes back to school tomorrow. I’m exhausted.

Amy says:

Me: “What would you like to give A for her birthday? Amy: “A pony.” Me: “My Little Pony or a toy horse that looks real?” Amy: “No. A real pony.” Me: “Um, I don’t think A’s mother would like that gift.” Amy: “Then she can give the pony to me.”
