It’s just my opinion, but I always thought of sexual orientation as a spectrum. Most people are somewhere between 100% homosexual at one end of the line and 100% heterosexual at the other end of the line. It is perfectly normal for a person near one end to find someone of the same or opposite gender attractive. Can someone be right in the middle of the spectrum? Of course they can. However, it doesn’t matter what my theory is. We should spend less time trying to prove why or how people are sexual beings from birth until death and more time studying things that we want to change. Then again, this is the exact sort of thing that caused so much friction for me that I quit going to church. I got tired of trying to tell people who know everything, are never wrong and only accept people just like themselves that there is too much we don’t know and that everyone is as different as they are the same.

  1. Amen. I refuse to attend church because of the reasons you give. Doesn’t make me a non-believer. The attitude of the standard church goer rubbed me wrong a long time ago.

If there is only one God and one son of God, why are there numerous religions? Catholics, Baptist, Presbyterians, Methodists, etc. all consider their church the correct way to worship. I don’t get it. And what about Hindu, Muslims, etc. why is their religion the wrong religion?

I think more people have been killed for religion’s sake than any other reason. Ach, don’t get me started on religion…

  2. I don’t think it’s about tolerance, I think it’s about acceptance. I myself believe there is a difference between “tolerating” someone is different from you than there is to accepting someone. Just my opinion.

  3. I’m sorry this caused you to quit going to church, but I hope you do know all church’s aren’t like that, even in Knoxville..

  4. Yeah, I quit going to church, too. I agree with you, I would say that everyone is in-between on the spectrum. I don’t think 100% exists.

  5. Yep! They say (whoever “they” are) that if the polar ends were blue and yellow (strictly hetreo and homo), the majority of the population would be varying shades of green.

  6. you sing it sister…
it’s all about tolerance,, who cares if someone loves someone of the same gender – if they have a penis or a vagina, what does it matter, love is love.
I think you are right about the spectrum – no absolutes – lots of reseach I believe backs that up as well.
