This is one of my favorite pictures of my grandmother. It was taken by the Red Cross in 1944, at the hospital after my mother was born. Then, it was sent to my grandfather’s ship somewhere near Normandy to announce his daughter’s birth. The photo stayed with my grandfather until he returned home to meet his daughter several months later. More than 60 years later, the photo hangs on the wall in our stairway. Saturday will be would have been my grandmother’s 89th birthday. Happy Birthday Granny. Whether taken yesterday or 100 years ago, I love looking at pictures. I click constantly so that I can look back on everything. I like to take pictures as much as I like looking at the results. It just makes me happy. I have neither the tools nor the skills to be a professional photographer like Kristyk. I’m just a mom who likes to play with a camera. Some weekends are spent on laundry and chores. This weekend I’m going to indulge in photography.
