“Feelings of worth can flourish only in an atmosphere where individual differences are appreciated, mistakes are tolerated, communication is open, and rules are flexible — the kind of atmosphere that is found in a nurturing family.” Virginia Satir
This is a great thought. How come, I can’t convince my children’s middle school to understand this? They refuse to tolerate mistakes and the rules are never flexible. Kids must “conform” in virtually every aspect of their behavior, including the clothes they wear. There are no uniforms, yet, but it may be coming soon as their right to express themselves through their dress is severely stifled. Sorry for the rant.
