The children are home all week for fall break. Apparently East TN has so many farmers with pumpkin crops that need to be harvested, the farmers lobbied the school system to close schools this week. No. I don’t think that’s it. Maybe the students are just exhausted from a few months of classes. No. My children are neither exhausted at the end of their school day nor up all night doing homework. It’s not hunting season yet. It must be the traditional pre-Halloween family gatherings and vacation season. Umm, no. People in this area are doing their best to take all the fun out of Halloween and they wouldn’t do anything to encourage the holiday. Besides, if fall break was about making Halloween more festive, the school holidays would take place the same week as Halloween so that families could stay up binging on sugar one night out of the year and sleep till noon the next day. I believe that fall break is some sort of gag gift to parents, occurring smack dab in the middle of the East TN rainy season and using up school holidays so that Christmas break doesn’t begin until Christmas eve. The only person having fun right now is Evan. He believes that everyone is at home today to entertain and serve him. It’s good to be King.
