Autism Awareness Month – Day Seven

He is surrounded by a dark cloud right now. I know that he has psychological wounds under there, but I cannot see them. He cannot name his feelings, so they fester. People treat him as though he is an unfeeling robot because he doesn’t discuss his emotions. He feels everything. Having feelings that you are unable to communicate to others means stumbling forward no matter what kind of pain you are experiencing. The people closest to him know it’s there, but they can’t help him. Quiet smiles of concern, a gentle hand on his shoulder for a few seconds and more waiting for the clouds to fade is all that we can do. He has to find the way out of the cloud on his own.
