Tommy actually took a break from WoW to watch a movie with me. When he reached in the DVD closet and pulled out “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”, my jaw fell on the floor. He may have missed some of the innuendo, but he enjoyed the movie and ice cream (he vetoed popcorn). I remember when it was in the theaters and I begged my parents to take me.
“But everybody has seen it but me.”
“I don’t care if everyone else’s parents let them go see trashy movies. If they all jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?”
That’s one of my favorite movies of all time! I had never really known much about the Beatles till I saw that movie when I was a kid, and it started me into really developing my piano skills. I bought the “official” SPLHCB songbook, with all the music and words and learned to play them. Until then, all I was playing in lessons was classical stuff. That movie and book showed me piano could be fun, and after making a part-time career out of it, I am deeply grateful.
