If – Then

If everyone has something to do tonight except for me and the two youngest, then it must be Friday night. Doug and Tommy are playing *D&D. Sarah has a friend spending the night. Noah just finished karate and is sleeping at the grandparents. I . . . am doing laundry. Wheeeee. *I wanted to post […]

the unwashed uninsured masses

Doug and I are uninsured. Since I still see blog posts and news articles trying to dispute that many Americans are uninsured, I have to point out that we have tried to get private insurance and couldn’t. So far, we’ve been lucky. For the most part, we just don’t go to the doctor unless there […]

that morbid post I said I was going to write

It’s the weekend and nobody reads blogs, so I’ll use this ‘conversations with myself’ time to make the post I said I would write about my eventual demise. As much as I find family cemeteries to be comforting to those left behind, I don’t want to be buried on the other end of the state, […]

The Fridge Grid

Since becoming a one car family again, our juggling act has become clumsy. Doug gets times confused and whines that he doesn’t have time to run upstairs to check the marker board a dozen times a day. The solution arrived in the mail yesterday. A 7-column weekly grid calendar aka “The Fridge Grid” by the […]

reaching out

Since nobody has asked me to perform their wedding ceremony yet, I’ll make a different offer. I can certify and order your Presidential Volunteer Service Awards. Just let me know and I’ll walk you through the process of tracking your hours spent giving back to your community.

time travel

How do I put this delicately? Doug has an, umm, “eclectic” taste in movies that exposes me to certain less-than-B movies that I otherwise would have avoided. Since I am a movie fan and not a movie critic, I usually enjoy the variety that he brings (still can’t do slashers or children in peril movies). […]
